Two More Software Industry Veterans Join Appcelerator

Matt Quinlan Joins Appcelerator as VP of Marketing and Joe Mazzola as VP of Sales

ATLANTA — February 20, 2007 — Appcelerator, the innovator behind the only pure open source rich Internet application (RIA) platform on the market, today announced the hiring of Matt Quinlan as vice president of marketing and Joe Mazzola as vice president of sales. The two seasoned software industry executives are the latest to join upstart Appcelerator’s aggressive charge into the RIA market.

Appcelerator’s open source web platform enables developers to quickly assemble cross-platform, service-oriented user interfaces (SOUIs) using the skills and technologies they’ve already invested in to standardize their development environments and software infrastructures. Appcelerator is ramping up operations and product development to help companies quickly build web-based applications with more functionality and less code.

“Matt and Joe’s decades of software industry experience bolster an already skilled leadership team,” said Jeff Haynie, Appcelerator’s CEO. “Appcelerator is putting all of the pieces in place to shake up the rich Internet application market and give enterprises that have invested in service-oriented architectures the ability to easily build rich applications on top of that infrastructure.”

Quinlan is the former director of worldwide sales consulting at JBoss, the open source middleware leader. After JBoss was acquired by Red Hat (NYSE:RHT), Quinlan founded Red Hat’s “Rockstar Program,” through which he was responsible for the recruitment and training of all consultants, instructors, and sales engineers. Quinlan is the fifth person with JBoss ties to join Appcelerator. JBoss Founder and former CEO Marc Fleury and former JBoss Director Larry Augustin recently joined Appcelerator’s advisory board. The company’s first hire, Ben Sabrin, is Appcelerator’s VP of business development, while CEO Haynie served as an early contributor and core developer.

Mazzola has more than a decade of enterprise sales leadership experience in IT software and hardware. He served as a sales director at Wily Technology, a provider of application management solutions that was acquired by CA. Mazzola also held sales executive positions at Sun Microsystems and Unisys Corporation.

As vice president of marketing, Quinlan will be responsible for strategies and programs to create demand and recognition for Appcelerator and its products. Quinlan holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Purdue University.

As vice president of sales, Mazzola will lead Appcelerator’s enterprise customer acquisition strategy and execution. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
